It was a great pleasure for me to play a little part in the wedding of Barbara and Harry, right from planning the engagement ring with Harry last spring to being one of Barbara’s bridesmaids this March when they wed. I was asked to make a some lovely pieces for the wedding, Barbara and Harry’s wedding bands and gifts for their parents and the bridesmaids.
For the bands, Barbara wanted a very narrow diamond set ring to compliment her solitaire engagement ring. Harry wanted a plain white gold ring and asked me to incorporate two tiny silver bands that he and Barbara wore into the band. I added the old rings to the top and bottom edges of the gold and worked it into a seamless, rounded profile.
As the theme of the wedding was celestial, we designed gold necklaces for the bridesmaids with a tiny crescent moon and three stars dotted along the chain. The necklaces had four, five and six-point stars, with each necklace arranged in a unique constellation.
For their parents, Barbara and Harry wanted me to make jewellery inspired by the north star Polaris, the guiding light of the sky. I made silver and diamond necklaces for the mothers and a tie pin for Barbara’s dad. I had made Barbara some tiny north star studs set with tanzanite, her favourite gemstone, as a Christmas present and she wore these as her something blue.
Below are some photos from the wedding day thanks to the generosity of Barbara and Harry and their wonderful photographer Antonija Nekic. I love seeing the jewellery I make in context and really appreciate being able to share these images.
